Volunteer Activities

Whether it’s a game, a conversation, a creative expression or a simple moment of connection, Herralink offers a range of activities to bring volunteers and residents together.

Building lasting friendships, one activity at a time

Herralink activities give volunteers easy ways to spend meaningful time with older adults, including group programs, one-on-one visits, games, technology support, fitness activities and creative experiences. You can choose opportunities that match your interests and schedule, meet other volunteers and residents, and make friends.

Friendly Visits
Spend one-on-one time with a resident. Engage in conversation, share interests or simply enjoy a calm and relaxing visit.

Game Tournaments
Play alongside older adults in friendly tournaments, including cup pong, air hockey, balloon volleyball and board games.

Trivia
Work with a small group of older adults to answer trivia questions on topics like animals, history and more.

Technology Workshop
Help older adults feel more comfortable with technology by answering questions, solving small tech issues or teaching simple skills.

Fitness Class
Join older adults for chair yoga or other chair-based movements.

Arts & Craft
Get creative together through painting, drawing and other hands-on art projects.

AMBASSADOR PROGRAM

From dedicated volunteer to community leader

The Herralink Ambassador Program trains experienced volunteers to serve as life enrichment aides and take on leadership roles within senior living communities.

Ambassadors support life enrichment teams by leading weekly programming and helping manage volunteers. In this leadership role, they help deliver programs that enrich the lives of older adults.

What it means to be a Herralink Volunteer

Being a Herralink Volunteer is about spending time with older adults in a warm and genuine way. You don’t need special skills or experience to make a new friend in this setting. Simply being present, engaging and curious is enough to leave a lasting impression.

During an activity, that might mean playing along, helping someone follow a game, starting a conversation or sitting beside a senior living community resident and enjoying time together. The goal is to have fun and let the connection grow naturally.

What comes next

Here’s what you can expect after you’ve registered for an activity.

You’ll receive an email with the details of your activity after you sign up.

We’ll send a reminder 24 hours before your scheduled volunteer time.

When you arrive, sign in through the app and follow the directions in your email to find the activity room. If your activity is led by a Herralink ambassador, they’ll meet you in the lobby.

Join in, spend time with residents and help where needed.

If you need to cancel, do so directly through the app.

If you’re earning service hours, submit them through your school’s service-hour platform using Herralink@GoodwinLiving.org as the verifier.
